Africa is breaking in two, and in 50 million years, it'll form Earth’s 6th ocean. The East African Rift System, one of the world's largest cracks, is slowly pulling apart, separating the Somali and Nubian plates. Back in 2018, a massive crack in Kenya made headlines—some thought it was tectonic movement, others blamed erosion.Landlocked countries like Uganda and Rwanda might get a coastline… just not anytime soon.
